Anthropic just became the most valuable private AI company on earth. It passed OpenAI.

A single funding round brought in $65 billion, valuing the company at $965 billion. That puts it ahead of OpenAI's $852 billion. A company most people outside tech can't name is now worth nearly a trillion dollars, while still private.

The valuation isn't the wild part. The revenue is. Anthropic's run-rate crossed $47 billion in May, up from a $30 billion pace just a month earlier. That's not a slow climb. That's a vertical line.

This is where the AI race actually gets decided. Not in demos, but in who can raise at this scale and turn it into compute, talent, and distribution faster than anyone else. Capital is concentrating into a handful of labs, and the gap widens every month.

A valuation like this leaves zero room for error. But if the revenue keeps compounding the way it just did, "expensive" stops being the right word.
